TV play director Redwan Rony is making his debut as a filmmaker with “Chorabali”. Indian actor Indraneil Sengupta is now in Dhaka to play the male lead in the film. Bangladeshi TV and film actress Joya Ahsan is being paired up with Indraneil.
Shooting for the film began in old Dhaka on September 23. Other locations include Comilla, Sitakunda, and Chittagong.
“Chorabali” zooms in on the shadowy underworld of crime. Indraneil plays a member of a gang. Celebrated actor Humayun Faridee dons the role of the godfather of this underworld and Joya Ashan plays a journalist. The cast also includes ATM Shamsuzzaman, Siraj Haidar, Sohel Rana and Shamima Nazneen.
Ayub Bachchu, Habib, Fuad, Hridoy Khan and Arfin Rumey will be doing playback for the film.
Asked about the first day's shoot, Redwan Rony said, “I was a bit worried when Humayun Faridee started feeling unwell on the shooting spot. So, I started shooting with other artistes. The film is progressing well.”
Joya said, “I agreed to act in the film after going through the script which impressed me a great deal. I feel completely at ease working with Indraneil.”
This is Indraneil's first Bangladeshi film. His career graph seems to have skyrocketed. Films such as “Angshuman-er Chhobi”, “Autograph”, “Arekti Premer Galpo” and “Janala”, featuring Indraneil, have won many hearts in India and Bangladesh.
Joya Ahsan is equally busy. She is to act in a Tollywood (Kolkata-based film industry) film, titled “Aborto”. Directed by Arindam Sheel, Joya will play four characters in the film. Shooting for the film will commence in February next year, she says.
